Silver (SI=F) December futures opened at $64.79 per ounce on Monday, September 14, 2026, down 0.6% from Friday's closing price. Silver slid this morning, reaching $63.35 as of 7:18 a.m. ET.
Silver prices this morning continued on Friday's lower-price trajectory following more attacks over the weekend in the Middle East.
A key oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia was attacked, damaged, and at least temporarily shut down. Reports also indicated that Saudi homes and a mosque were targeted by Iran and its allies. The pipeline is an essential alternative for Saudi Arabia to move its oil without relying on the Strait of Hormuz.
The war with Iran continues to put tremendous strain on global oil prices (BZ=F), which has many pricing in a rate increase later this week. This morning, according to the CME Group's FedWatch tool, the chances for a rate increase this week are now 86.5%, up from 69.4% on Friday morning.
Higher rates mean lower silver prices, at least for now.
