Jim Cramer Explains Why He Added Hinge Health (HNGE) to His Fantasy Lineup

Expanding his fantasy stock lineup on Mad Money's episode aired on September 8, Jim Cramer turned his focus to digital healthcare provider Hinge Health, Inc. (NYSE:HNGE) to fill an important roster spot. He said:

You need a tight end. This is a hybrid offensive position. On some plays, the tight end acts like an offensive lineman, charged only with blocking. On other plays, the tight end is indistinguishable from a wide receiver. They're out running routes, catching passes, scoring touchdowns. For the tight end equivalent of our fantasy stock football portfolio, I'm going to pick a new one here, Hinge Health, a relatively new medical technology company that came public last year. After a quiet first year of trading, it's had a major breakout, more than tripling from its February lows. Yet, it still remains an under the radar sleeper. Hinge Health is effectively tele-medicine for musculoskeletal issues. Employers and managed care companies pay for their services for their employees and members because it's much cheaper than traditional physical therapy and much more convenient for patients.

It's part healthcare, part technology. Hinge Health is on track to put up nearly 50% revenue growth this year, but it's not a growth at any cost operation. The company's profitable. It still sells for 40 times earnings, even after the stock's tripled since February. Okay, so who's the NFL analog for Hinge Health? You know, I'm thinking Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren for this one. First of all, they're both second-year players. Hinge is a class of 2025 IPO name that recently exploded higher. Warren's a Penn State product. Was a rookie last year, put up some solid numbers, over 800 yards, four touchdowns. But I'm hoping he can break out in the second NFL season just like Hinge did.

Eli Lilly's (LLY) GLP-1 Growth Made It a Core "Running Back" Stock for Jim Cramer

Digital Healthcare Expansion and Financial Growth

Hinge Health, Inc.'s (NYSE:HNGE) virtual platform gives companies a simpler, cheaper way to handle joint and muscle care for employees. The core numbers back up Cramer's optimism. During the second quarter of 2026, revenue jumped 53% year-over-year to reach $212.8 million.

Because customer demand is holding strong, management raised its full-year revenue guidance to between $856 million and $860 million, pointing to about 46% growth at the midpoint. Hinge Health is also showing it is not just a cash-burning startup, posting a non-GAAP operating margin of 29% up from 19% in the prior year's Q2, and bringing in almost $100 million in free cash flow. Even after experiencing a massive surge in its stock price since February, it trades at a forward price-to-earnings multiple of roughly 32x at the time of writing.

Risks and Operational Vulnerabilities

Even with fast growth, Hinge Health, Inc. (NYSE:HNGE) could still face a few real hurdles. An economic downturn could still weigh on growth if employers and health plans reduce spending on healthcare technology or become more cautious about adopting new digital care programs. On top of that, successfully integrating its recently completed $105 million cash acquisition of Cylinder Health to expand into digestive care could bring in normal integration headaches. At the same time, rising competition in virtual specialty care could squeeze profit margins and slow down customer growth.

Hedge Fund Backing and Market Position

According to Insider Monkey's database, Hinge Health was held by 48 hedge funds in both Q1 and Q2. Braidwell LP was the company's top shareholder in Q2 among the 1000+ elite hedge funds tracked by Insider Monkey. It is also important to note that some prominent hedge funds also increased their position significantly in the company in Q2, including Divisadero Street Capital, which increased its holdings in the company by 127%, while Walleye Capital increased its stake by a massive 1087%. The short % of float sits at 9.12%.

Hinge Health, Inc. (NYSE:HNGE) captures the versatile, high-upside profile of a portfolio tight end according to Cramer. Balancing strong technological efficiency with proven healthcare cost savings, it stands out as a compelling growth vehicle for modern portfolios.
