SoFi Technologies (SOFI) shares opened comfortably in the green on Monday morning after a senior Piper Sandler analyst initiated coverage on the digital financial services company. In his research note, Patrick Moley assigned SOFI an "Overweight" rating and set a $22 price objective, indicating potential upside of more than 20% over the next 12 months.

Moley's bullish call is particularly significant given SOFI stock has already rallied sharply since late July.

Why Is Piper Sandler Bullish on SoFi Stock?

Moley sees SoFi Technologies as a standout "high-growth personal finance story" well-positioned to capitalize on structural shifts in consumer banking.

His report highlighted SOFI's extensive runway in both personal lending and debt consolidation, particularly among younger, creditworthy demographics, such as millennials and Gen Z.

As high interest rates keep debt management top of mind for consumers, the fintech firm's digital-first platform continues to capture market share from traditional brick-and-mortar lenders.

Given the massive addressable market in consumer credit, the Piper Sandler analyst believes SoFi shares' rebound is in its early innings, bound to accelerate only in the back half of 2026.

Rapid Growth to Drive SOFI Shares Higher

Beyond lending, Moley pointed to SOFI's "powerful product flywheel" as the key engine driving member retention and cross-selling capabilities.

Bundling checking, savings, investment accounts, and credit cards into a unified ecosystem enabled SoFi to post a 35% increase in memberships and a 43% increase in product adoption in its fiscal Q2. This multi-product strategy lowers acquisition costs while expanding lifetime customer value.

"From 2026E-28E, we model a 22% revenue CAGR and 27% adjusted EBITDA CAGR," the Piper Sandler analyst concluded.

That said, Barchart currently holds a "16% SELL" opinion on SOFI shares, indicating technical momentum is not particularly in its favor as of writing.

Wall Street's View on SoFi Technologies Inc

While not nearly as constructive as Piper Sandler, other Wall Street firms also expect SoFi stock to extend gains through the remainder of 2026.

The consensus rating on SoFi Technologies sits at "Hold," but the mean price target of roughly $20 signals potential upside of nearly 10% from here.
