With a market cap of $20.9 billion, Lennar Corporation (LEN) is one of the nation's leading homebuilders, offering affordable, move-up, and active adult homes under the Lennar brand. Its diverse operations also include financial services, multifamily development, and technology and strategic investments through LENX.

Shares of the homebuilder have underperformed the broader market over the past 52 weeks. LEN stock has decreased 33.4% over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has rallied 20.4%. Moreover, shares of the company are down 15.5% on a YTD basis, compared to SPX's 13.7% gain.

Focusing more closely, shares of the Miami, Florida-based company has lagged behind the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF's (XLY) nearly 3% return over the past 52 weeks.

Lennar's shares fell 4.9% following its Q2 2026 results on Jun. 11. The company forecast Q3 home deliveries of 20,500 - 21,500, well below analysts' estimate, signaling continued weakness in the U.S. housing market. Q2 revenue fell more than 5% to $7.94 billion, missing the consensus, while the average selling price declined about 5% to $371,000 as Lennar relied on incentives to support demand.

Persistent elevated mortgage rates, constrained affordability, cautious consumer sentiment, higher inflation and job uncertainty raised concerns about further margin pressure and sluggish housing demand.

For the fiscal year ending in November 2026, analysts expect LEN's EPS to decline 311.5% year-over-year to $5.52. The company's earnings surprise history is mixed. It beat the consensus estimates in three of the last four quarters while missing on another occasion.

Among the 18 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a "Moderate Sell." That's based on one "Strong Buy" rating, eight "Holds," two "Moderate Sells," and seven "Strong Sells."

This configuration has remained unchanged over the past three months.

On Aug. 6, Truist analyst Jonathan Bettenhausen cut Lennar's price target to $80 and maintained a "Hold" rating.

As of writing, the stock is trading above the mean price target of $84.36. The Street-high price target of $108 implies a potential upside of 24.4%.
