A Russian logistics business has reportedly asked the country's government to put five Nestlé subsidiaries under the temporary administration of the state.

According to Russian business daily Kommersant, KM Logistics has contacted the Kremlin to request the measure.

Citing an unnamed source, Kommersant said the demand has been made due to Nestlé not expanding its production capacity in Russia, where it has six factories.

KM Logistics, a business that Kommersant described as "largely unknown until now", also reportedly pointed to Nestlé not exporting products made in Russia.

A Nestlé spokesperson told Just Drinks the Russian government has not contacted the Swiss giant about the request. The spokesperson added the world's largest food maker "continues to operate our offices and factories in Russia, meets regulatory requirements and fulfils our obligations".

According to Nestlé's 2025 annual report, the company manufactures products including powdered drinks, dairy items, confectionery, prepared dishes and pet food in Russia.

Nestlé has three factories in Ukraine making drinks, prepared dishes and confectionery, the report states.

After the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the presence of western multinationals in Russia was scrutinised. Some companies left but others, including Nestlé, remained. At the time, Nestlé faced criticism from Ukraine's President Zelensky.

In 2023, the Kremlin seized Danone's Russian assets, putting them under the "temporary management" of government property agency Rosimushchestvo. The following year, the French group struck a deal for the assets, confirming a loss of €1.2bn (then $1.3bn) from their sale.

Moscow also seized Carlsberg's stake in Russia's Baltika Breweries in 2023. The Danish drinks major reached its own deal over the assets more than a year later.
