Kalshi In Talks To Raise Money At $40 Billion Valuation

Prediction market Kalshi is reportedly in talks to raise money at a $40 billion U.S. valuation.

Media reports say that privately held Kalshi is in discussions with Sequoia Capital and Wellington Management for a new $750 million U.S. funding round at a $40 billion U.S. valuation.

Sequoia, which is already an investor in Kalshi, and Wellington are considering leading the new investment round.

More From Cryptoprowl:

Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Sequoia, which has $56 billion U.S. of assets under management, has an executive on Kalshi's board of directors.

Wellington, a Boston-based investment management firm with $1.3 trillion U.S. in assets, is looking to make its first investment in Kalshi.

The new funding round comes amid reports that Kalshi is considering holding an initial public offering (IPO) in 2027.

Kalshi last raised $1 billion U.S. in May of this year at a $22 billion U.S. valuation. The company is now the largest prediction market platform by revenue, followed by rival Polymarket.

Polymarket was last reported to be seeking funding at a $20 billion U.S. valuation.

Kalshi's annualized revenue increased to $4 billion U.S. in July of this year, boosted by betting on the World Cup soccer tournament.

Most of Kalshi's revenue comes from betting on sports, which accounts for more than 80% of its trading volumes.

Prediction markets let people bet on real-world events such as sports, elections, and the weather.

Kalshi is privately held and its stock does not trade on a public exchange.
