ValueAct's 13F filing for the second quarter shows that Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Rocket Companies (NYSE:RKT) were among the firm's largest disclosed holdings. The fund increased its position in both companies during the quarter.
ValueAct added 57,100 Amazon shares, bringing its stake to 2.94 million shares valued at about $701.1 million at quarter-end. It made a much larger addition to Rocket, purchasing 13.45 million shares and increasing its position by nearly 48% to 41.67 million shares. The stake was valued at approximately $656.3 million as of June 30.
In this article, we will focus on Rocket Companies, which is down about 33% so far this year.
Rocket Companies (RKT) is best known for Rocket Mortgage, an online mortgage lender. The company helps consumers obtain home loans and also earns fees by servicing mortgages after they are issued.
Rocket's Broader Homeownership Platform
Rocket Companies is evolving into a broader homeownership platform following its acquisitions of Redfin and Mr. Cooper. The company now operates across real estate brokerage, mortgage origination, mortgage servicing, title and closing services, personal-finance tools and consumer lending.

Revenue Mix
About 70% of Rocket's revenue is recurring or less sensitive to interest rates. The recurring component primarily comes from fees earned by servicing mortgages and subscriptions to Rocket Money.
High Rates Remain a Risk
Rocket keeps gaining market share, but it still faces a tough mortgage and housing market. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate has climbed for four straight weeks to nearly 7%, its highest level since January 2025. Limited inventory and poor affordability have also weighed on home sales. Bears say the housing market may take time to recover, which would keep purchase and refinancing demand weak. Part of Rocket's revenue still depends on mortgage rates, so the company remains exposed if rates stay high.
