Apple iPhone 18 Pro Delivery Times Lengthen in Second Week, JPMorgan Says

Estimated delivery times for Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 18 Pro models increased substantially during their second week of orders, bringing waiting periods broadly into line with those recorded for the iPhone 17 series last year, according to a JPMorgan note published on Sunday.
The bank reported that average delivery times for the iPhone 18 Pro rose to 23 days from seven days in the first week. Waiting times for the iPhone 18 Pro Max increased to 30 days from 19 days.
Delivery estimates in the United States, United Kingdom and Germany are now broadly comparable with those seen during the previous product cycle. China remains the only major market with shorter waiting periods than a year earlier.
US and European Delivery Estimates Rise
In the United States, estimated delivery times for the iPhone 18 Pro increased to 21 days from two days in the first week. The Pro Max rose to 28 days from 22 days.
Germany recorded similar increases, with delivery estimates reaching 22 days for the Pro and 29 days for the Pro Max, compared with five and 16 days, respectively, a week earlier.
In China, waiting periods climbed to 27 days for the Pro and 33 days for the Pro Max, from 13 and 21 days in the first week.
Despite the increases, Chinese delivery estimates remained below the 30 days and 37 days recorded for the corresponding iPhone 17 models last year. JPMorgan also noted that the iPhone 18 Pro Max was unavailable for in-store collection in China.
According to the bank, China accounts for approximately 19% of iPhone shipments, while the United States represents around 34%.
JPMorgan Identifies Third-Week Trends as Key Demand Indicator
The latest increases follow shorter initial delivery estimates for the iPhone 18 series compared with last year's launch.
JPMorgan previously suggested that some customers could be delaying purchases while waiting for Apple's new foldable iPhone Duo, which will not be available for pre-order until 16 October.
The bank compared the current changes with last year's launch, when delivery times increased by nine days for the iPhone 17 Pro and seven days for the Pro Max between the first and second weeks.
"While this implies that the current pace of demand over the past few days for the Pro lineup exceeds that of the previous year's cycle, with the iPhone Duo not open for pre-orders until October 16, the key data to watch will be the extent of the moderation of delivery times in the third week," JPMorgan analysts said.
The analysts added that subsequent feedback from Apple's supply chain on changes to production plans, generally expected in November, would provide the "most decisive signal of demand."
Delivery times measure the period between an order being placed and its estimated arrival. Although longer waiting periods can indicate stronger demand, they may also reflect inventory availability, supply constraints or production schedules.
Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro series earlier in September alongside its first foldable model, the Duo. The new devices feature upgraded specifications and higher prices, with the increases attributed to rising component costs.
