PVH Corp.'s (NYSE:PVH) second quarter performance matched or surpassed the company's own projections across nearly all key financial metrics. Topline of $2.097 billion shrunk 3% compared to Q2 2025, which was in line with the management's guided range of a 3% to 4% decline. Profitability metrics stood out during the quarter, as adjusted operating margins jumped to 11.1% compared to estimates of 9.5%. However, a significant share of this outperformance came through $107 million in tariff refunds, which were incorporated within the earlier forecasts. Adjusted earnings per share clocked in at $3.70, outperforming management's outlook of $3.00 to $3.10 range. It is pertinent to highlight that the above-mentioned tariff refunds accounted for roughly $1.80 per share of that total.

PVH+ Plan and DTC Momentum Support the Growth Case

The recent quarter was marked with growing optimism surrounding the upcoming rollouts within the company's two flagship brands, Calvin Klein and TOMMY HILFIGER brands. This can be attributed to fresh campaigns starring Tate McRae for Calvin Klein, and Travis Kelce for Tommy Hilfiger, both of which drew encouraging responses from consumers. It also reflects on disciplined follow-through on the company's PVH+ Plan across both brands.

Direct-to-consumer results showed promising momentum relative to the previous quarter, with expansion across both Asia-Pacific and Americas regions, along with sequential improvement in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Going forward, the management reaffirmed its full-year outlook for revenue and the bottom line, reflecting confidence in its overall direction despite uneven regional results. Further momentum could stem from cost-cutting measures along with high-value accretive investments within key strategic areas.

EMEA Weakness and Wholesale Pressure Remain Key Risks

Even so, the quarter had its weaker spots. EMEA revenue fell 6% on both a reported and constant currency basis, a decline linked to persistently weak consumer spending stemming from the prolonged fallout of the Middle East conflict and its broader economic effects. This regional softness was primarily fueled by a downturn in the wholesale channel, and although digital commerce revenue rose within the DTC segment, it wasn't sufficient to counterbalance a drop in brick-and-mortar sales.

The Americas segment likewise recorded a slight 1% revenue decrease, as a modest gain in DTC sales was outweighed by weaker wholesale figures. This partly stemmed from a shift in the timing of Calvin Klein wholesale shipments to later in the year, though this was somewhat balanced by bringing previously licensed Tommy Hilfiger women's product lines in-house. Licensing revenue dropped 13%, mainly the result of planned license transitions across North America, expected to conclude by the end of 2026.

Institutional Sentiment

We observed a drop in the number of hedge funds holding positions in the stock, as per data tracked across 1,000+ hedge funds by Insider Monkey. According to 13F filings, hedge fund ownership declined from 47 funds in Q1 2026 to 38 funds in the following quarter. Short interest of 9.72% indicates moderately high level of skepticism within the investor base.

According to Yahoo Finance database, FMR was the largest institutional stakeholder in the company, with 6.83 million shares as of June 30. This translates into 14.80% ownership in the stock. Other notable stakeholders include Pzena Investment Management and BlackRock with 12.98% and 9.71% ownership, respectively.

Way Forward

As per management's guidance, full-year topline figures will remain almost flat, with a slight decline projected on a constant currency basis. Adjusted operating margin outlook remains at around 8.8%, with adjusted EPS range of $11.80 to $12.10 also remaining unchanged. The reiterated full-year guidance suggests management believes the current challenges across the EMEA and licensing segments remain manageable. Rather, they are temporary and highly manageable. Management's confidence around its PVH+ Plan has strengthened after the recent quarter, which proves to be a credible framework for growth. The ongoing regional and wholesale challenges could be counterbalanced by DTC strength and margin discipline.
