Built Cybernetics PLC (AIM:BUC) told investors it has agreed to sell half of its stake in German architecture business Aukett + Heese Frankfurt GmbH for €250,000 (£214,000), releasing capital for investment in its smart buildings operations.
The group will sell a 25% interest to longstanding partner Lutz Heese, reducing its holding in the Frankfurt operation from 50% to 25%. Built Cybernetics expects to recognise an accounting profit of around £78,000 from the transaction, with cash due in the coming weeks once notarisation formalities are completed.
The Frankfurt business had a carrying value of £300,000 at the end of March. It contributed £54,000 to Built Cybernetics' share of associate and joint-venture profits in the six months to 31 March, while revenue less subconsultant costs was £683,000. The company received £42,000 in dividends and £24,000 in management charges during the period, followed by another £82,000 of dividends since April.
Chief executive Nick Clark said the deal provided an opportunity to "reallocate capital to our smart buildings businesses, where we can grow recurring revenues that scale faster than headcount".
While Built Cybernetics' share of future Frankfurt dividends will fall, it will continue receiving 50% of the management charge from both its Frankfurt and Berlin architecture operations.
