HIVE brings in enterprise veteran to scale BUZZ HPC's AI cloud business

HIVE Digital Technologies, a Canada-based Bitcoin miner and data center operator that trades on the Nasdaq and Toronto Stock Exchange, has appointed Mark Volk as Senior Vice President of Revenue at BUZZ HPC, its wholly owned AI cloud and high-performance computing subsidiary.
Volk's mandate is to build BUZZ HPC's revenue engine and scale it globally. He will lead the company's go-to-market strategy across enterprise, government, sovereign AI, hyperscale, research and academic markets, overseeing commercialization of its GPU-powered infrastructure, including sovereign AI cloud, GPU-as-a-Service, colocation and hybrid AI solutions.

Nearly three decades in AI and enterprise infrastructure
Volk brings roughly 30 years of experience across AI, high-performance computing, cloud and enterprise infrastructure.
He is not a new face internally, he has worked with HIVE as a consultant for approximately nine months, during which he helped build BUZZ HPC's current GPU cloud demand pipeline.
Before his consulting role, Volk served as CEO of CiphexAI Corporation. He previously spent five years at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where HPE's HPC and AI business grew approximately 425% to more than $2 billion in revenue under his commercial leadership, serving government, enterprise, research and academic customers across the Americas.

At IBM, he managed a portfolio of approximately $1.2 billion and helped launch the company's first HPC Cloud SaaS offering, growing that business roughly 200% in under two years.
The hire comes at a pivotal moment
BUZZ HPC has closed more than $600 million in total contract value for GPU cloud deals year to date, including three- and five-year agreements with creditworthy counterparties, with a demand pipeline exceeding $1 billion in total contract value potential, a pipeline Volk himself helped build during his consulting tenure.
On August 17, BUZZ HPC signed a five-year, $350 million AI cloud services agreement with an unnamed investment-grade enterprise customer, its largest single deal to date.
HIVE exceeded $1 million in daily revenue on August 21 from combined hashrate and GPU cloud services, while producing an average of approximately 12 Bitcoin per day, representing roughly 2% of global Bitcoin network production. HIVE plans to wind down Bitcoin mining at its Swedish facilities, which accounted for less than 5% of daily revenue in August, and is evaluating repurposing that infrastructure for HPC and AI.
"The objective is simple: put every megawatt to its highest and best use," the company said.
