Kura Oncology, Inc. (NASDAQ:KURA) on Wednesday announced $50 million financing tied to advancing its menin-inhibition strategy.

Launches Caspian Therapeutics With $50 Million Financing

Kura said it is launching Caspian Therapeutics alongside a $50 million financing led by BVF Partners, with participation from the T1D Fund, Invus, Montanova, Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE:LLY), Kura Oncology, members of Kura's leadership team, and other investors.

The stated goal is to advance the company's work in menin inhibition and expand development capacity around that approach.

Development Of Lead Asset KO-7246

Caspian was established around KO-7246, a next-generation, highly selective menin inhibitor purpose-designed for chronic metabolic diseases, together with related intellectual property and know-how contributed by Kura.

The financing is expected to fund advancement of KO-7246 through IND-enabling development and initial clinical proof-of-concept in diabetes, as well as support the advancement of a second menin inhibitor development candidate for diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases.

Operational Structure And Ownership Terms

Caspian will operate with dedicated leadership and external capital with access to Kura's research, development, and corporate capabilities under an intercompany services arrangement. Kura will retain approximately half ownership of Caspian and board representation.
