Chainlink (CRYPTO: LINK) trades around $12.30 today, up nearly 1% since the start of the year. XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) trades at $1.42, down about 22% year-to-date. Cardano (CRYPTO: ADA) trades at $0.22, down roughly 34% over the same time frame. Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) trades at $0.09, down roughly 23%. That leaves Chainlink as the only one of the four to post a positive return in 2026.
Over the past 30 days, however, all four have rallied. Chainlink is up 49%, XRP 40%, Dogecoin 32%, and Cardano 14%. So what does the gap between these two timeframes tell us about the four coins' performance in 2026?
The Four Coins Across Three Windows
The four cryptocurrencies show a sharp difference between their recent performance and their year-to-date position. All four have gained over the past month, but only Chainlink has recovered enough to trade above its 2026 starting level, while XRP, ADA and DOGE remain below their respective break-even prices.

Chainlink has moved slightly above that level after gaining 49% over the past month, leaving it up 1% year to date. The other three have not recovered their earlier losses. XRP and DOGE are both down 22% for the year, while ADA remains the weakest performer, down 34%.
XRP has gained 40% in one month, yet it remains 22% below its January starting price. DOGE has followed a similar path, up 32% this month, while ADA has added 14% without making up much of its earlier decline.
LINK is still down 47% over the last twelve months, while XRP has lost 52%, DOGE 62%, and ADA 75%. This means the recent gains represent a rebound from much lower prices rather than a full recovery. Chainlink has done enough to turn its 2026 return positive, but all four remain significantly below their levels from 12 months ago.
Why the Timeframe Changes the Picture
The biggest takeaway is the difference between a rebound and a sustained trend. A sharp monthly gain can shift sentiment quickly, but it doesn't tell us how much conviction sits behind the move. The more useful question is what happens after the initial surge. If buying continues, the recent gains can begin to repair the longer-term structure. If momentum fades, the monthly figures can quickly lose their significance.
Chainlink has the strongest combination of recent and medium-term momentum, with gains extending beyond the one-month window into the six-month period. XRP has also regained ground recently, but its six-month performance is much smaller. ADA and DOGE face a tougher task because their six-month returns remain negative despite their latest rallies.
The longer window also changes how investors should interpret a recovery. A cryptocurrency can regain some lost ground without returning to its previous range, leaving investors who bought much earlier still underwater. That creates two very different groups in the market, recent buyers who may be sitting on gains and longer-term holders who are still waiting for a broader recovery. For these four coins, the next few months will show if the latest strength can develop into a sustained trend or remains another temporary bounce within a larger decline.
Is One Green Out of Four a Rotation?
It is too early to call one green coin out of four a rotation. Chainlink currently has the strongest position because its recent momentum has pushed it back above its 2026 break-even level, while XRP, ADA, and DOGE still need further gains to erase their losses. That gives LINK an edge, but it does not establish a broader shift of capital from one group of cryptocurrencies into another.
Chainlink needs to stay above its $12.18 break-even level, while XRP, ADA and DOGE need to recover to $1.84, $0.33 and $0.12, respectively, before they can turn their 2026 returns positive. A continued rally across all four would suggest the latest strength has broader support. A reversal would show how quickly the recent gains can disappear.
All four remain well below their levels from a year ago, meaning the latest rally has more ground to cover before it can be viewed as a lasting recovery. For now, LINK is the only one of the four to have crossed its 2026 finish line, but the next phase will reveal if that lead develops into sustained leadership or simply reflects how far each coin had to recover from its earlier decline.
