Ethereum (ETH-USD) opened at $2,514.80 on Monday, September 7, 2026, up 1.4% from Sunday's opening price. The price of ethereum moved lower this morning to $ as of 9:41 a.m. ET.
Bitcoin opened down versus Friday's open, but stronger than many of last week's open prices. For ethereum prices, it was its strongest opening since August 22.
Friday's "bombastic" August jobs report increased expectations for a Fed rate hike later this month. This week, all eyes are on critical inflation data that could be the Fed's final signal before its upcoming two-day meeting later in the month.
"For the Fed, the jobs report squarely focuses attention on inflation at the next meeting," Bill Adams, chief economist at Fifth Third Commercial Bank, said in a note. "That next decision will be finely balanced. Next week's releases of the August CPI and PPI reports have the power to swing it between a hike and a hold."
