Tamboran Resources Corporation (NYSE:TBN, ASX:TBN, OTC:TBNRL, FRA:O8R) has begun initial gas sales from the Shenandoah South Pilot Project in the Northern Territory's Beetaloo Basin, marking the first volumes from the basin to enter the Northern Territory gas market.

Tamboran and joint venture partner Daly Waters Energy, LP (DWE) delivered the first gas into the Northern Territory network over the weekend, beginning the commissioning phase of the project.

Production is expected to progressively ramp up to the full 40 terajoules per day (TJ/d) contracted to the Northern Territory Government under a long-term take-or-pay agreement by early 2027. During commissioning, Tamboran and DWE will receive a discounted gas price reflecting the interruptible nature of supply.

First gas milestone for Beetaloo

The milestone represents an important step in Tamboran's strategy to establish the Beetaloo Basin as a long-term source of natural gas for the Northern Territory and, eventually, the broader Australian East Coast market.

Tamboran chief executive officer Todd Abbott said: "Over the weekend, Tamboran and our joint venture partner DWE delivered our first molecules of gas from the Beetaloo Basin into the Northern Territory gas network. This marks a major milestone for the Beetaloo Basin, the Northern Territory and our key stakeholders, who will start to see the economic benefit of locally supplied energy.

"This is an important first step towards establishing the Beetaloo Basin as a reliable, long-term source of natural gas for the Northern Territory and, over time, the broader Australian East Coast market.

"I would like to thank our joint venture partner DWE, the Northern Territory Government and the entire Tamboran team, whose dedication and hard work have made this milestone possible. We look forward to ramping up to full contracted volumes and completing commissioning by early 2027 as we continue to unlock the significant potential of the Beetaloo Basin."

The first gas was delivered into the Sturt Plateau Compression Facility, with Northern Territory Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro and Federal Resources Minister Madeleine King taking part in the opening of the valve.

Ramp-up towards contracted volumes

Tamboran is now focused on completing commissioning and increasing production towards the contracted 40 TJ/d rate by early 2027.

Abbott said the company expected the ramp-up to demonstrate the potential of the Beetaloo Basin as a source of locally supplied energy.
