Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk has said that the Cybercab's electric motor operates without using any rare earth metals in its design, touting it as a major milestone for the EV giant.

Rare-Earth-Free Design

On Thursday, Tesla investor and influencer Sawyer Merritt took to X, sharing details about the Cybercab's electric motor, which was "18% smaller, 25% lighter and more efficient" than its counterparts.

Musk, quoting Merritt's post, touted its design. "The Cybercab motor uses no rare earth metals, but maintains the same range!" he said. "This was extremely hard to achieve," the CEO added.

Don't Miss:

The move could help Tesla overcome supply chain issues, as the President Donald Trump administration's uncertain views on tariffs on China could cause restrictions on the movement of rare-earth magnets, which has happened in the past. China dominates the global rare-earth supply chain, particularly processing and permanent-magnet production.

Gary Black Remains Skeptical on Cybercab

Despite bullish takes by both Musk and investor Gene Munster of Deepwater Asset Management, investor Gary Black remains skeptical about the vehicle. "Despite efforts to control the narrative, $TSLA 's Cybercab event was largely a bust," the investor said on Thursday in a post on X.

The Future Fund LLC co-founder decried the lack of detail from the event. He also shared that "key questions remained unanswered following the event, including how many vehicles the company plans to deploy."

The investor also posted an excerpt from a Bloomberg article published on Thursday, which pointed to regulatory uncertainty due to the Cybercab's non-traditional vehicle controls (the absence of a steering wheel and pedals).

Musk Touts New Era

Following the Cybercab launch, Musk said that the event marked a "golden era" in transportation. He had earlier also said that the vehicle was more efficient than rival Alphabet Inc.'s sixth-generation Waymo Robotaxis.

Building Wealth Across More Than Just the Market

Building a resilient portfolio means thinking beyond a single asset or market trend. Economic cycles shift, sectors rise and fall, and no one investment performs well in every environment. That's why many investors look to diversify with platforms that provide access to real estate, fixed-income opportunities, precious metals, and even self-directed retirement accounts. By spreading exposure across multiple asset classes, it becomes easier to manage risk, capture steady returns, and create long-term wealth that isn't tied to the fortunes of just one company or industry.

Arrived

Backed by Jeff Bezos, Arrived Homes makes real estate investing accessible with a low barrier to entry. Investors can buy fractional shares of single-family rentals and vacation homes starting with as little as $100. This allows everyday investors to diversify into real estate, collect rental income, and build long-term wealth without needing to manage properties directly.

Qnetic

As electricity demand rises alongside AI, data centers, and renewable energy, long-duration energy storage is becoming increasingly important. Qnetic is developing a kinetic energy storage system designed to provide long-lasting, chemical-free electricity storage, offering investors exposure to the infrastructure supporting a more resilient and reliable power grid.

EquityMultiple

For accredited investors looking beyond stocks and bonds, EquityMultiple provides access to vetted commercial real estate deals starting at $5,000, with only ~5% of opportunities passing their due diligence process.

FarmTogether

Farmland has historically held its value through market volatility and delivered returns uncorrelated to stocks and bonds. For accredited investors, FarmTogether offers direct access to high-quality U.S. farmland starting at $15,000 — fully managed, with no landlord headaches.

Fundrise

Private real estate and private credit can add income and stability to a stock-heavy portfolio.
