With a market cap of $138.2 billion, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (BMY) is a global biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets innovative medicines worldwide. Its portfolio spans key therapeutic areas including oncology, hematology, immunology, cardiovascular disease, and neuroscience, with well-known products such as Opdivo, Eliquis, Revlimid, and Yervoy.

Companies valued at $10 billion or more are generally classified as "large-cap" stocks, and Bristol-Myers Squibb fits this criterion perfectly. BMY stock is up 24.5% on a YTD basis, outperforming XLV's 10.9% increase. Moreover, shares of the company have surged 41.4% over the past 52 weeks, compared to XLV's 25.4% return over the same time frame.

The stock has been trading above its 50-day and 200-day moving averages since November 2025.

Bristol Myers Squibb shares rose 2.8% on Jul. 30 as Q2 2026 revenue reached $12.97 billion and adjusted EPS of $2.04, both beat expectations. The company also raised its 2026 revenue forecast to $49 billion - $50 billion and adjusted EPS guidance to $6.75 - $7, with Eliquis sales rising 22% to $4.48 billion and its full-year growth forecast lifted to 20% - 25%. Strong demand for newer medicines further supported the outlook, with Reblozyl, Camzyos and Breyanzi all beating sales expectations, while the growth portfolio expanded 15% despite declines in older drugs such as Revlimid.

In contrast, rival Eli Lilly and Company (LLY) has lagged behind BMY stock on a YTD basis, with LLY shares up 7.2%. Nevertheless, LLY stock has soared 56.1% over the past 52 weeks, outperforming Bristol-Myers Squibb shares.

Despite BMY's outperformance relative to the sector, analysts remain cautiously optimistic about its prospects. The stock has a consensus rating of "Moderate Buy" from 30 analysts in coverage, and as of writing, the stock is trading above the mean price target of $66.48.
