Real estate mogul predicts Bitcoin’s $20T milestone could change its role

Real estate investor Grant Cardone believes Bitcoin could eventually move beyond its role as a store of value and become a widely used means of exchange. He says that shift could happen once the cryptocurrency's market capitalization reaches $20 trillion.
In a post on X, Cardone stated: "BTC will become as a means of exchange when its market cap hits $20T."
Cardone, known for his aggressive business philosophy, has spoken about Bitcoin in the past as part of broader wealth-building strategies.
His latest remark focuses on a specific threshold that would, in his view, unlock everyday transactional use.
From investment asset to payment tool
Cardone's prediction suggests that far greater scale and liquidity would be required before it routinely settles payments or replaces traditional currencies in daily commerce.
A $20 trillion market capitalization would place Bitcoin among the largest financial assets in the world, roughly on par with or exceeding the value of major global stock markets at certain points in history.

Cardone did not provide a timeline for when that level might be reached or outline the practical steps needed for widespread adoption as money.
Reactions and context
The post drew mixed responses on X. Some users dismissed the idea, arguing Bitcoin's design and volatility make it unlikely to serve as everyday money.
Others treated the comment as a long-term bullish signal tied to continued institutional and retail growth.
"Would that mean the value of a single coin will be $1 million +? How long do you think that will take? That's 13.3 times it's current value," one of his followers responded.
Another follower responded saying, "No it won't. Because technically it does not have the capacity to do so at scale. You can like BTC, you can say it'll rise in terms of price, but saying it'll be a means of exchange is flat out nonsense."
Cardone's Bitcoin comments tend to align with a view that digital assets can play a larger role in wealth preservation and eventual utility. For now, the $20 trillion figure stands as a clear marker he believes will redefine how the asset is used.
