GPA Global has appointed Anne Marie Shulman as vice president of luxury packaging, North America, a newly created role to drive growth in its luxury packaging and gifting business across the US and Canada.
Shulman has more than 20 years of experience in the luxury packaging sector.
The appointment is part of the company's wider plan to develop its luxury packaging and gifting activities in North America.
An early focus of the role will be to present GPA's packaging and gifting offering to jewellery, watch and other luxury companies, including its production base in North America, overseas manufacturing and supply chain network, and expertise developed in Europe.
Shulman has worked across the packaging process, covering development, factory sourcing, logistics, materials, production, prototyping, and quality assurance.
Earlier in her career, she was vice president of sales for the packaging division at Kalencom Corporation.
Shulman said: "Luxury packaging is part of the product experience. It protects what's inside, but it also tells the customer something about the brand from the moment they see it. GPA already has deep experience helping luxury brands create that kind of experience, and there's a real opportunity to build on it in North America."
During her career, she has worked with brands and retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman, Cartier, Chopard, Gucci, Mikimoto, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Tiffany & Co.
Her background also includes apparel, handbags, accessories and luxury retail, with experience spanning North America, South America and Europe.
GPA intends to build a broader luxury business in North America over time. Shulman is also set to contribute to the company's strategy for the luxury segment and oversee efforts to develop that business over the longer term.
GPA Global commercial director Robert Lingham said: "Anne Marie brings something that is difficult to replicate: deep knowledge of the luxury market, long-standing customer relationships and a very practical understanding of how packaging actually gets made.
"She understands the creative side, but she also understands factories, materials, quality, cost and logistics. That combination makes her exactly the kind of leader we wanted to build this business for GPA in North America."
"GPA Global appoints vice president of luxury packaging for North America" was originally created and published by Packaging Gateway, a GlobalData owned brand.
