The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has announced that more than 15,000 accountants and finance professionals have enrolled in its AI Fluency Programme.
The initiative is Singapore's national AI learning programme for the accountancy profession.
It aims to provide practical AI training to 60,000 accountancy and corporate finance professionals over the next three years, representing approximately half of the country's accountancy profession.
The programme covers more than 180 accounting and finance use cases across six areas: audit, finance, tax, internal audit, governance, and board reporting.
It also includes over 600 practical learning activities designed to show how AI can be applied to everyday professional tasks.
These include financial analysis and reporting, preparing materials for boards and management, audit planning and testing, tax research, and internal audit planning.
Participants include people at different stages of their careers and from a range of professional settings.
They include students preparing to enter the workforce, practitioners from small firms, and senior business leaders.
ISCA noted that employees from EY, Deloitte, DBS, SP Group, and the Accountant-General's Department (AGD), among other organisations, are also taking part.
It added that it is also preparing Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese versions of the programme to support wider adoption across the region.
The programme will be gradually updated with new AI tools, accountancy use cases, and industry developments.
ISCA president Lee Boon Teck said: "AI will not replace professional judgement. Its greatest value will come from professionals who can combine AI capabilities with their expertise and judgement to deliver better outcomes for clients, employers and society.
"The strong response to AI Fluency programme demonstrates that our profession is ready to embrace this next chapter as we work towards our ambition of building an AI-fluent accountancy profession in Singapore."
Recently, ISCA and China's Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) signed an MoU to boost cross-border collaboration in accounting education and professional development.
"ISCA AI Fluency Programme draws over 15,000 enrolments" was originally created and published by The Accountant, a GlobalData owned brand.
