With a market cap of $680.9 billion, Visa Inc. (V) is a global payments technology company that facilitates digital transactions across more than 200 countries and territories through its secure processing network, VisaNet. The company offers a broad portfolio of products and services, including credit, debit, prepaid solutions, digital payment innovations, risk management, and data analytics.

Companies worth more than $200 billion are generally labeled as "mega-cap" stocks and Visa fits this criterion perfectly. Serving financial institutions, merchants, governments, and consumers, Visa also strengthens its brand through partnerships and sponsorships with organizations such as the Olympic Games, FIFA, and the NFL.

The San Francisco, California-based company stock has dipped over 1% from its 52-week high of $385.57. Shares of Visa have increased 17.4% over the past three months, outpacing the Dow Jones Industrials Average's ($DOWI) 5.7% rise over the same time frame.

Visa stock is up 8.8% on a YTD basis, underperforming DOWI's 11.4% gain. In the longer term, shares of the global payments processor have risen 9.1% over the past 52 weeks, compared to DOWI's 17.4% return over the same time frame.

The stock has been trading above its 50-day moving average since late April. Also, it has moved above its 200-day moving average since July.

Shares of Visa rose marginally following its Q3 2026 results on Jul. 28 as adjusted EPS of $3.32 and net revenue rose 14% to $11.63 billion, ahead of the estimates. Strong consumer spending supported payment volumes, which increased 10% to more than $4 trillion, and processed transactions also grew 10% and cross-border volume accelerated 13%, helped by World Cup-related travel and spending.

In comparison, rival Mastercard Incorporated (MA) has lagged behind Visa stock. Shares of Mastercard have gained 4.3% on a YTD basis and marginally over the past 52 weeks.

While Visa stock has underperformed relative to the Dow over the past year, analysts remain bullish about its prospects. The stock has a consensus rating of "Strong Buy" from 40 analysts' coverage, and the mean price target of $418.72 is a premium of 9.7% to current levels.
