Metals One MD: First gold at Barbrook targeted within six months

Metals One PLC (AIM:MET1, FRA:HT7, OTCQB:MTOPF) managing director Daniel Maling spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about progress at the Barbrook Gold Project, targeting first gold within six months of completing Phase 1.
Maling said the team has been refining its mining plans and staging the restart, with opportunities including gold contained in tailings from previous operations alongside near-surface open-cast opportunities for its year-one and year-two plans.
Metals One has funded payments to former employees and is progressing the Section 11 process with the minerals department, with Maling describing mine start-up financing as "well advanced."
The interview also covered an offtake agreement for 100% of gold concentrates over three years. Maling said the counterparty has completed due diligence on the mining plan and is familiar with concentrate from past operations - a reputable partner that should support financing for both initial operations and future underground development.
Investors can expect further detail with the upcoming Minxcon Competent Person's Report, which Maling said will be "the first time we'll be able to go out there publicly and talk about our detailed mining plan," covering the mining plan, mineral resource view and project economics.
Looking beyond Phase 1, Maling pointed to underground development potential across the wider Lions Bay Gold Project: "That's where we see some huge upside."
