Quantum Flex Pack has made the first US purchase of the FUJIFILM J Press FP790 digital flexible packaging press from FUJIFILM North America business innovation division.
The transaction is the sixth global sale of the J Press FP790 since the machine was introduced.
Installation work at Quantum's plant started earlier this month.
Quantum Flex Pack CEO Brian Batease said: "I am incredibly proud that Quantum Flex Pack is the first company in North America to purchase the J Press FP790.
"This acquisition represents a major leap forward in our capabilities and underscores our commitment to investing in the most advanced flexible packaging technology available. We are truly excited to be at the forefront of this innovation and look forward to delivering unmatched quality, efficiency, and value to our customers."
Fujifilm said the press operates without make ready and changeover stoppages.
It has a print speed of 164ft per minute and supports a maximum substrate width of 31 inches, regardless of ink colours.
The system uses 1,200dpi × 1,200dpi resolution with CMYK inks and can reproduce Pantone colours without requiring spot colour inks.
It includes two white ink channels for high white opacity.
Additional specifications cited by Fujifilm include water-based inks, 1,200dpi × 1,200dpi output for detailed image quality, and an inspection tower for live quality monitoring.
Fujifilm said the removal of setup requirements can cut lead times. It added that the press can produce wider gamut output and can be used for work moved from, or carried out alongside, analogue flexo and rotogravure production.
The press can be integrated into existing flexible packaging workflows.
The company said it uses water-based primers and inkjet technology in the system, and that the press reduces waste and consumables compared with comparable traditional analogue production.
FUJIFILM North America Corporation business innovation division general manager Yuji Oki commented: "J Press FP790 was created to meet these high market demands, achieving both high-quality print output and adhering to the strict regulatory requirements of the packaging business, while facilitating a strategic and profitable packaging business.
"Those reasons and more are why J Press FP790 was a perfect fit for Quantum Flex Pack's business model. We are thrilled they saw the value, quality, and growth potential FP790 brings."
"Quantum Flex Pack buys Fujifilm press in US" was originally created and published by Packaging Gateway, a GlobalData owned brand.
