EQ expands Scottish presence with Innes & Partners deal

Scottish company EQ Chartered Accountants, part of the Sumer Group, has completed a merger with fellow practice Innes & Partners.

Innes & Partners, which serves clients in Inverness and Livingston, delivers professional services to private individuals, business owners, and non-profit entities such as charities, social enterprises and charitable trusts.

In a statement, EQ said the merger marks an "important step" in its growth as it expands its presence into the north of Scotland.

Innes & Partners' 20-person team joins Sumer Group's wider UK network, which has more than 70 offices and in excess of 3,000 personnel.

The transaction also increases EQ's workforce by nearly 7%, lifting staff numbers from 290 to 310.

Innes & Partners director Jonathan Innes said: "Joining EQ, and the Sumer Group, marks an exciting new chapter for our firm.

"Our clients will benefit from enhanced service capabilities while maintaining the personal relationships and local knowledge they value.

Innes will remain in his post as a partner within the Inverness team.

EQ confirmed that it will maintain its sites in Inverness and Livingston. Meanwhile, Innes & Partners clients will gain access to Sumer Group's national network, including audit, tax, advisory and business support capabilities.
