Dive Brief:

  • TP Freight Lines suspended operations earlier this month, shuttering terminals following a new ownership change, the Teamsters Joint Council 37 said in an Aug. 6 news release.

  • Oregon records show the current head of the business is Mohamed Hegab, listed as president in an online state database. Hegab is connected with Irvine, California-based Z10 Group, which refers to itself as a consulting business.

  • "When employees in Warrenton reported to work on the morning of August 3rd, they were unable to enter the terminal as the landlord had changed the locks and placed a lien on the property. Similar action happened at the terminal in Eugene on August 4th," the Teamsters said.

Dive Insight:

Workers learned of the changes abruptly, and about 60 workers were affected by the shutdown amid payroll disruption, WEZI-TV previously reported.

The sale of the business occurred in June 2025, the Teamsters said, and TP Freight Lines said on its Facebook page during that time that the sale of LTL operations involved "Z-10 / Team Shippers."

TP Freight Lines' website listed seven terminals under service. Representatives didn't immediately respond to messages seeking comment.

TP Freight Lines began as a general freight carrier in 1922 operating between Tillamook, Oregon, and nearby Portland, according to the company.

Other trucking firms have faced Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcies in recent months across the country, often pressuring smaller businesses, while certain larger trucking firms have scaled back their truck fleets amid lackluster demand.

Federal regulatory changes affecting the driver supply, such as a move seeking to create more oversight of non-domiciled CDLs for certain immigrants, and a Supreme Court decision, Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II, that is making brokers raise carrier selection standards, have tightened the market.

The industry is moving away from a four-year freight recession, but capacity changes in carriers as opposed to momentum from sustained, widespread demand factors are facilitating that progress.
